A Wind Mitigation Inspection Can Save You Hundreds, Even Thousands of Dollars
A Wind Mitigation Inspection is an inspection and qualification of how the exterior systems of your home are tied together. There are eight specific areas that your insurance company requires information about in order to offer you discounts on the wind portion of your insurance policy. Almost every house, regardless of age, qualifies for a discount of some type, and the discounts can be huge!
You may say….”My house is too old” WRONG!!!
We saved one homeowner $1,100 a year on her 1966 home
The good news is almost every house qualifies for some discount! Houses built under the 2001 building code (adopted in March of 2002) will receive the largest discounts. But many of the construction techniques that qualify a house for a discount were commonly used prior to the adoption of the latest building codes! In fact, houses built in the 1990s have received the largest discounts because they have been given no wind-mitigation consideration before.
How much money can I save?
Discounts range from 20% to 60% off the wind portion of your policy. In most cases, the wind portion of the premium is the largest part. Our customers have received $100 to $2,000 off their insurance premium.
How can I get my discount?
The inspection process is simple and takes approximately 20 minutes to gather the necessary information. We must inspect the interior of your attic and ask you a few questions. Then we send the report to your insurance company, including any relevant photos. Your insurance company will tell you the amount of your discount and will either reduce your premium when it is renewed or send you a refund check if you have already paid your premium.
Why hasn’t my insurance agent told me about this?
Some are not informed. Most were not aware of the discounts until recently. Insurance agents continue to be amazed at how much their customers save by having an inspection performed.
